I have owned a Dell Inspiron 1501 for almost two years, and I am pretty fed up with Dell. About 3-4 months after the purchase, the battery stopped functioning, and the laptop had to be kept plugged into a power source ever since. And just recently, the monitor stopped working. Luckily, Ubuntu is installed on it and I can do my work remotely from my PC. Dell laptop hardware is brittle crap, and I will never buy from Dell again.

Yes..they suck. I get a new Dell every 2 or 3 years with my company. I am on my 5th one...and they have all been poor laptops. They don't make it a year before keys start to fall off and the mouse buttons have problems.

Absolutely agree. Suck is just too kind. I have a stripped down Latitude E6400 provided by business. Sharp corners, lousy ergonomics. The Keypad is absolute garbage. It has delay, tapping sometimes just does not work which causes you to type out of band somewhere else in a document. Sometimes the cursor just moves on its own somwhere else. Crap keyboard, not comfortable. Who the hell QA'd this thing? If it were mine it would have been frizzbied long ago.

yeah. Dell laptops suck. I think they use to be good but their quality has dimished. I won't recommend buying a laptop from Dell. I'd rather consider buying from hp but for the gamers alienware is a must have
